Works great. I was even able to make some out of regular PLA. You just have to turn it slow and it can be hit or miss. Unlike every other cat toy I've printed off for her, she actually has been playing with the springs.

this model is absolutely fantastic.
I printed the "key" at 999 walls, and I printed the "nut" at 5 walls with 25% gyroid infill.

I couldn't get it to twist any of the filament I have, without heating the filament with a hair dryer first.

( below is a few photos of the prints, and a cat spring I made with it.

10/10 would print again.

I love this thing @froy192 printed with PETG 80% infill,3mm screws with brass inserts for fasteners going to stick with 2s only for now. Clear lexan top and bottom plates. Thanks for sharing most of the files🤙🤙

I ended up just drawing the middle section to add another axle, seen Mr. Froys video and couldn't wait LOL.

@RafC_1669819 oh nice. That is what I will do too. Thank you for the info!

Used 2x tazer twin 2s 3000Kv motors & Zeee 5200mah 2s batteries.

Also opted to make the top and bottom plates out of 1/8in aluminum sheets for added strength and rigidity. Mounted the motor ESC power switch into the plate for ease of use.

I did have to redesign the supp motor and bearing component to allow the wires on my motors to pass thru since they were being pinched and wouldn't fit in the original design. A Dremel tool would have also worked for making a cutout for them.

Cogs we're printed out of a fairly stiff TPU (sainsmart brand) with .6mm nozzle and very high wall/perimeter count.

Helical gears we're printed out of 3DXTECH ezPC+CF with the .6mm nozzle with very high wall/perimeter counts as well with great success.

Everything else was printed out of PLA

Running on a spectrum dx6e with no issues.

fun project to build and even more fun to drive. I learned you should be very generous with loctite on every fastener that threads into a metal component even those you don't think need it. Trust me on this, I think I had to take the whole thing apart 6 or more times to re-tighten and use loctite on screws that came loose. one time a screw backed out of the supp GB and bearing component and chewed through half of my helical gear before it locked up. Good times.

@nateanderson_396129 wow, thanks for sharing your build and giving some feedback. it is greatly appreciated. It looks really good in black and white. I also like the metal top plates.

@nateanderson_396129 I wanted to build it, but when I saw what a great project you created, I gave up :) - my tiktok :) https://www.tiktok.com/@critical_mash/video/7269105498492833056
