A husband, father, scholar, inventor, and poet, David is an accomplished engineer across many disciplines:- hardware, mechanical, software, embedded systems, and electronics manufacturing. From 3M to British Aerospace, David’s designs have ranged from high-speed (4,000 pages per minute) laser printers to deep brain drug delivery robots to rugged computers that live in every vehicle in our armed forces. David thrives on solving difficult problems using his eclectic background in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science. An avid Inventor, David holds a number of patents including AR, BlockChain, IoT security, and MRI-based robotic drug delivery, as well as over a hundred patents pending on behalf of Capital One.
David loves to teach, leading hardware classes for audiences ranging from the Girl Scouts and "Girls Who Code" to Software engineers to sharing career strategies at SXSW. David shares his hardware knowledge by contributing to the peer-reviewed Open Research movement with his work on formalizing rugged, deterministic embedded system design that is both robust and available. As a Citizen Scientist, David has contributed to understanding insect defense strategies in the family of insects commonly known as Cicadas.
